We launched our platform on the occasion of our workshop on 20 October with the first participants. We now hope for a lively and constant exchange of ideas.
Welcome to the Community Young Leaders for Syria
Young Leaders for Syria is a program – and the community of participants in the program. The Young Leaders for Syria develop their own contribution to sustainable peace and a future democratic transformation in Syria through active, civic dialogue and joint workshops and projects. At the same time, they find and test answers to current challenges in Germany. We invite young Syrians in Germany to participate in our workshops and to become actively involved in the community.
Young Leaders for Syria aims to build capacity for a democratic and pluralistic transformation based on the rule of law in Syria at the end of the conflict. At the same time, the program also provides answers to current challenges in the European host countries with a focus on Germany.
In a series of consecutive workshops Young Leaders for Syria
- Strengthens a positive social identity beyond one-dimensional ethnoreligious attributions
- Promotes Syrian-Syrian dialogue to overcome the polarization of society caused by the ongoing conflict.
- Improves participation and integration in the host societies through civic education, exchange, and joint projects. The stance of active citizenship, jointly developed ideas, concepts, and networks, as well as training on transformation-relevant topics, are intended as preparation for a future sustainable peace and a nonviolent, democratic transformation in Syria.
Who are we?
Young Leaders for Syria is a program carried by the Citizen Diplomats for Syria e.V. and the Friedenskreis Syrien e.V. All three organizations are committed to strengthening democratic participation in an open and pluralistic society and promote societal dialogue. Together with young Syrians in exile, we want to contribute to the preparation for reconstruction and democratic transformation in Syria after the end of the conflict.
We organize workshops and projects that promote dialogue between Syrians and with people from the host society. We work with a variety of methods on topics such as identity and participation, liberal values and democratic decision-making and negotiation processes. In this way, we promote an active civic attitude. The Young Leaders for Syria program thrives on the commitment of participants who develop their own projects and with whom we develop our projects further.
